America Online Inc - acqures Tegic Communications Inc - Company Business and Marketing

America Online Inc., Dulles, Virginia, has acquired Tegic Communications Inc., of Seattle. Tegic supplies the T9 Text Input software, which allows users to send messages and access the Internet via mobile phones using the standard telephone keypad, operating in 14 languages. Tegic and AOL are together developing an AOL Instant Messenger application for wireless devices.

Financial details of the deal were not disclosed.
