> IBM has opened a research center in the Netherlands to develop software for high-speed, next-generation Internet networks. Its Advanced Internet Applications Center will work alongside the Dutch government, the Netherlands Broadcasting Co. and universities in the country. Projects tipped for inclusion in the Center's work-plan include automatic language translation programs, X-ray-based 3D imaging systems and virtual reality-based distance learning.
