Global e-security standards sought - Industry Trend or Event

"Its up to the market to determine standards -- not governments who have little idea of what it takes to run a business," said Jon Floyd, marketing manager IP solutions at Equant NV, of Atlanta. Georgia. "While we fully support enabling standards, and we do comply with relevant standards, these should primarily be guidelines as you need to be able to differentiate yourself"

But global standards could help users compare service levels. "An IT department could be 7799 approved," said AEA's Spinks, "[But] B2Bs or B2Cs would have to ensure information held is secure."
