* Telefonica will join forces with French utilities group, Suez Lionnaise, to bid for one of the four French UMTS licences. SuezLyonnaise will hold 60% of a new company and Telefonica 40%, according to French press reports. The French government will award licenses later this year on the basis of a beauty contest, rather than through an auction.
