Metrocall and WebLink Wireless, two U.S. paging companies that have filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection, announced a merger to create a company with revenues of about $700 million. With the boom in mobile phone-based messaging, both companies have suffered in recent years. Future plans include marketing new two-way messaging devices to their combined subscriber base of 8 million users.
