Hutchison Whampoa, the Hong Kong group with a 65% stake in the Hutchison 3G venture in the U.K., raised $1.1 billion in vendor financing from Nokia, NEC and Siemens in return for network supply contracts to Nokia ($439 million) and the NEC/Siemens partnership ($283 million). Orange also announced a $1.7 billion financing deal with Nokia for network equipment in France, Germany and the U.K.

Mobilcom, the German operator 28% owned by Orange, will be provided with more than [epsilon]700 million of equipment by Nokia, as part of a [epsilon]2 billion finance deal through the French mobile operator.
