* Eutelsat rejects calls to consider admitting new service providers and users to its 28-nation satellite organization.

* NTT is pushing the limits of its legal status as a provider of domestic telecoms services, repositioning itself as a global supercarrier.

* A consortium that includes the Societe Internationale de Telecommunications Aeronautiques will submit a bid to the EC for an Open Systems Interconnection network for the air-transport industry.

* Hermes, the plan to build Europe's first private fiber optic long distance network, is being threatened by commercial disagreements among its 11 railway company members.
