Thirty-seven companies have joined together to form a new organization called the Metro Ethernet Forum. Comprised of service providers, incumbent local exchange carriers, network equipment vendors and other network companies, the forum says it hopes to accelerate the adoption of optical Ethernet technology in metropolitan networks worldwide.
