Revenues for global wireless wide area network equipment - reports fro Frost and Sullivan and Strategis Group - Industry Trend or Event - Brief Article

CommunicationsWeek International, July 16, 2001

Revenues for global wireless wide area network equipment will reach $15.67 billion by 2007, according to a report by Frost & Sullivan. The industry generated revenues of $4.59 billion in 2000. The boom will largely be due to the increased popularity of mobile phones in countries without wireline infrastructure. Meanwhile, a report from the Strategis Group, London, says that European operators can expect revenues of $215 billion from wireless services by 2008. Revenues from messaging services will increase to $57.8 billion, from $14.5 billion in 2001, while voice revenues will grow at a slower rate to reach $157 billion in 2008, from $134.9 billion in 2001.
