But Arpath at the CAMEL Working Group questioned whether CAMEL will play an important role in ensuring data roaming services, particularly as alternatives become available.

"Data and CAMEL phase 3...will have to be seen," said Arpath. "CAMEL 3 may be a choice [for data], but it is not as evident as with voice and circuit switched [networks and services]," he said.
