Tyco International Ltd., the Pembroke, Bermuda-based conglomerate, will split into four companies. Tyco's subsea cabling and data hosting interests will be put into one group with security and electronics. Tyco Capital, a venture and equity fund for telecoms-related startups, among others, will be spun off as another entity.

The breakup is intended to help the company pay down its debt load, which stands at $23 billion.
