General DataComm, Industries, Inc. Tuesday announced the promotion of Keith Mumford as vice president, marketing. Previously at GDC, Mumford held the position of European ATM marketing manager where he was instrumental in early GDC ATM successes, and subsequently as director, ATM product management, he directed the development and marketing efforts for the GDC APEX product family.

More recently, as director, product planning, he was responsible for the planned evolution of GDC's systems solutions to meet the demands of both the traditional and emerging network service provider markets. "Keith's extensive, customer-focussed background in local and wide area networks and specifically in ATM technology and applications is a valuable asset to the GDC team," said Ross Belson, GDC's president and chief operating officer. "In his new role, we anticipate he will continue to be a driving factor for success. We are fortunate for the expertise and vision he brings to his new role and expect that he will strengthen GDC's position as a leading provider of multiservice solutions." Prior to joining GDC in 1993, Mumford was a consultant at Computacenter Ltd. (UK) responsible for a team involved in designing, planning and implementing multiprotocol LANs and WANs for enterprise networks.
