"Cisco's inclusion on this panel reflects the growing importance of the Internet Economy and how it is reshaping the fortunes of countries, companies and people." In announcing the Technological Advisory Council, Chairman William Kennard said, "I am thrilled that so many extraordinarily talented and respected individuals have been willing to share their time and expertise with the Commission. The work of this Council will continue to increase in importance as the Commission strives, during a period of exceptionally rapid technological change, to fulfill its responsibilities to the public." The FCC announced last fall it was creating the advisory panel to provide technical advice to the Commission and to make recommendations on issues such as the conversion of voice and video services to data networks. "With data, voice and video services coming together, it's critical that business partner with our nation's policymakers and regulators to ensure that the Internet Economy flourishes for all Americans and achieves its goal of a truly global village," said Hemrick. The first meeting of the new Council will be April 30th in Washington, DC.
