Micron Electronics, Inc., a leading direct manufacturer of high-performance personal computers, Tuesday announced an agreement with EarthLink, one of the world's leading Internet service providers. The two companies will work together to provide comprehensive computing and Internet solutions to Micron customers.

The first and most significant outcome of the agreement gives Micron customers one year of unlimited Internet access, via EarthLink, with the lease or purchase of select Micron Millennia desktop personal computers. "Our goal is to enable customers to work the web through a hassle-free Internet solution when they buy or lease a Micron PC. A lot of people are buying computers now for the express purpose of accessing the Net, so we wanted to help make the process easier," said Michael Gale, vice president of the Web business at Micron Electronics. "This is a powerful offering for small businesses and consumers looking for fast, highly reliable Internet access and great customer service." "More and more people are buying computers to access the Internet these days, and by partnering with leading computer manufacturers like Micron, EarthLink can provide consumers with a good online experience right out of the box," said Bob Johnson, vice president of OEM channel sales at EarthLink. "Micron is one of the best known and most respected brands in the PC space, so we're excited to work with them." Micron and EarthLink Offer More on Millennia Beginning Tuesday, Micron customers who lease or purchase select Micron Millennia or Micron Millennia MAX desktop personal computers will receive EarthLink's award-winning TotalAccess connection package. The package provides one year of unlimited Internet access at speeds up to 56K, a free email account, 6MB of free web space for building a personal web site, and 24 hour-technical support. The package is available to: o Customers who lease any Micron Millennia or Millennia MAX. o Customers who purchase a Millennia or Millennia MAX with a minimum of 128MB of main memory and an additional 3-year extended warranty. Millennia: Micron's Consumer & Small Business Computer The Millennia line, Micron's flagship line of desktop computers, is aimed at small business and power users who tend to frequent the Internet and use applications that are rich in graphics, sound and video. Millennia desktop computers are available with a range of processors, including the Intel Pentium III 500 MHz processor, and other high-performance components that rank it at or near the top of performance charts for PCs. Every Micron customer receives a free, one-year enrollment in Micron University, an online training resource that can help customers make the most of their computer investment. MicronU gives customers worldwide access to over 100 Internet-based training courses, seminars and tutorials 24 hours per day, 7 days a week. MicronU consists of both self-paced tutorials for popular applications as well as instructor-led courses covering everything from Advanced C++ programming to Windows NT Systems Administration.
