Executive Suite: Centennial Cellular Corp. Announces Management Team - Company Operations

Centennial Cellular Corporation ("Centennial") has announced a management team effective with the completion of the merger of CCW Acquisition Corp., a company organized at the direction of Welsh, Carson, Anderson & Stowe, with and into Centennial on January 7, 1999. Michael J. Small joins Centennial as Chief Executive Officer and Peter W.

Chehayl joins as Chief Financial Officer. Rudy J. Graf continues as President and Chief Operating Officer. Philip H. Mayberry is promoted to President - Domestic Operations and Kari L. Jordan is promoted to President - Caribbean Operations. Also Edward G. Owen joins as Vice President - Corporate Development. "I am excited to join Centennial's existing management team, which is generating superior operating performance," said Michael Small. "Centennial's domestic rural cellular operations and its integrated communications services operation in Puerto Rico are well positioned to take advantage of the industry's strong growth trends." "I am very proud of the many accomplishments of our management team. The new executives will compliment our existing team's strengths," said Rudy Graf. "I am delighted to welcome our equity sponsors and the commitment they have made to Centennial's wireless communications services." Previously, Mr. Small was Chief Financial Officer for 360 Degree Communications Company and Mr. Chehayl was Vice President and Treasurer for 360 Degree Communications Company. Centennial is one of the largest independent wireless telecommunications service providers in the United States and Puerto Rico with approximately 10.8 million Net Pops. Centennial's domestic Rural Cellular operation has 5.8 million Net Pops and serves over 300,000 customers. Centennial de Puerto Rico, is a fully integrated provider of communications services in Puerto Rico. These operations utilize a PCS license that covers 3.8 million Pops in Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands and a Competitive Local Exchange Carrier ("CLEC") license to operate in Puerto Rico. In addition, the company owns minority shares, representing approximately 1.2 million Net Pops in certain other cellular operations controlled and managed by other cellular operators. Welsh, Carson, Anderson & Stowe (WCAS) and an affiliate of the Blackstone Group are the company's controlling shareholders. WCAS is a private investment firm based in New York and founded in 1979. WCAS currently manages over $8 billion in private equity capital and focuses primarily on the information services and healthcare industries.
