Exodus Communications, Inc., a leading provider of Internet system and network management solutions for enterprises with mission-critical Internet operations, Tuesday unveiled the Exodus Internet Service Provider (ISP) Program.
The new program includes two service packages designed to help service providers cut costs on Internet infrastructure, such as Internet bandwidth, Internet Data Centers (IDCs) and 24 x 7 personnel. Service providers can take advantage of Exodus' leadership and expertise in managing Internet infrastructure so they can focus on growing their business. In addition, the new ISP offerings can improve customer access to the content hosted on the Exodus network.

According to a recent eStats study, it is estimated that the number of Internet users in the United States will nearly double from 47 million in 1998 to 85 million by the year 2000. Service providers are learning that a key component to expanding their business is to guarantee smooth and efficient Internet operations to their customers. Instead of investing in capital to build IDCs and acquiring Internet bandwidth, service providers can easily take advantage of the resources already in place at Exodus. Exodus has the most comprehensive and high bandwidth public and private peering relationships available and a fully redundant nationwide backbone of fiber carriers to every Exodus IDC.
"If service providers cannot scale to handle the exponential growth of Web site traffic, they will not be able to grow their business, " said Ellen M. Hancock, president and CEO of Exodus. "Through our Service Provider Program, we're enabling these service providers to immediately achieve scale that would be very difficult to establish on their own. By taking advantage of the Exodus infrastructure, they can quickly accommodate rapid growth and scale to handle heavy traffic."
Exodus' nationwide network offers maximum Internet backbone performance and best-of-breed Internet services at significant cost savings. Service providers gain a nationwide private backbone with Exodus, including OC-3 and OC-12 capacity, and access to all of the network exchange points (NAPs). Exodus offers an extensive peering portfolio, with more than 40 private peering relationships and more than 120 public peering relationships.
"Since the founding of WareNet, our goal has been to guarantee a relationship to our customers that could not be outgrown. Exodus has helped us grow quickly overnight to give our customers world-class support and flexibility on a national level," said Lance Ware president and CEO of WareNet. "Exodus' Internet management expertise has enabled us to focus on marketing our services, which has grown our customer base over 100 percent in the last year."
Exodus also offers enhanced capabilities including DataVault services and Internet Disaster Recovery solutions. Understanding that Quality of Service is the bottom line for service providers, Exodus boasts one of the highest service level agreements (SLAs) in the industry.
Exodus Internet Service Provider Packages, Pricing and Availability Exodus is currently offering two service provider service packages: Wholesale Access Services and IDC Co-location Services.
Exodus hosts 30 percent of the top Internet sites in its network of IDCs. By providing service providers wholesale access to these locations, Exodus offers minimal transit distance, helping to minimize packet loss and network latency. The Wholesale Access service package includes increased connectivity at wholesale access rates, BGP routing services, direct and closer access to Internet content and complete access and routes to all of the Exodus peering partners at the NAPs and private exchanges.
Co-locating at an Exodus IDC provides an ISP with a secured, private area to host network equipment in state-of-the-art physical facilities. The co-location services include residence on a network with complete access and routes to all peers, 24 x 7 service and monitoring, usage based bandwidth services with bandwidth reporting, equipment and service pricing advantage and a virtual point of presence (POP) to enable a service provider to run its equipment in Exodus' IDCs.
The two new service packages are available immediately. For detailed pricing information, contact Exodus directly at 1-877-8EXODUS.
