How this data was collected
The information contained in the 2002 Salary Survey was collected via a questionnaire that was developed by the Institute of Packaging Professionals (IoPP) and posted to the association's website from June through October 2002. Both IoPP members and non-members were encouraged to participate in the study.
By October 10, a total of 727 usable replies were received from respondents in the U.S. An additional 31 replies were received from Canada. Canadian answers have been separated from U.S. replies because of the difference in currency valuation.

A sample of 727 yields a margin of error of /-3.6% using a 95% level of certainty. The base of respondents varies, though, from question to question, as non-response and unqualified respondents may not be included in the results.
