Industry: Email Alert RSS FeedAluminum bottle's function is `elemental' - New packages: food beverage pharmaceutical medical HBA - Snapple Beverage Group Inc.'s bottle design - Brief Article
Food & Drug Packaging, April, 2003
The bottle for Snapple Beverage Group's energy drink line, Elements[R], offers a number of advantages to the consumer. The impact-extruded aluminum container, supplied by CCL Container Aerosol Div., is durable, resealable and "chillable." Since the canister is shatterproof, it's safer than the product's previous glass bottle.
The 18-ounce bottle is decorated with a frosted finish and "extreme" graphics designed to appeal to the product's target audience--"on-the-go" 16- to 24-year-old males. The portable bottle uses a resealable lug cap. A threaded polypropylene mold is inserted into file bottle's orifice and receives the lug cap. Because most consumers drink Elements directly from the bottle, the PP mold is smooth and rounded for safety.

The container's graphics are achieved by applying a silver metallic base coat with a gloss over-varnish, then adding an ice crystal design with a proprietary white ink during the printing process. AdProps designed original renders of the bottle.
Says Susan Chirico, Snapple's director of packaging, [Elements] packaging is a powerful tool in defining our brand."
Elements flavors include Fire Dragonfruit, Rain Agave Cactus, Meteor Tangelo and Sub-Zero Siberian Cherry. The product will be available nationwide in convenience and grocery stores this spring.
