Pillow bags enhance candy's personality - New packages: food beverage pharmaceutical medical HBA - Cadbury Trebor Allan introduces hard candy - Brief Article

Food & Drug Packaging, April, 2003

Cadbury Trebor Allan recently launched its newest hard candy, Cadbury Chocfuls[TM], in two flexible pillow bags--supplied by Sonoco--which will accommodate retailers' specific display requirements while enhancing merchandising opportunities.

FutureBrand designed the Chocfuls package graphics to make sure the product stands out on crowded retail shelves. Graphics are rotogravure printed in eight colors on a polyethylene terephthalate (PET)-based laminated structure. Detailed illustrations of wrapped and unwrapped candies are included on the front of the bags. On the back, a clear window reveals the actual product. Product information is written in gold script, in English and French.

Michelle Bell, Cadbury Chocfuls brand manager, explains that rotogravure printing was the first choice to achieve the desired level of detail end color reproduction. "The brand's personality and flavor are best characterized by rich colors and elegant graphics," says Bell.

The flexible pillow bags come in two sizes, 189 and 354 grams. The bags can be bung on racks or stacked on a shelf. Cadbury Chocfuls combine the flavors of chocolate and butterscotch and are available In retail outlets throughout Canada.
