Kraft paper gives burritos homemade look

Food & Drug Packaging, April, 2005

A line of frozen burritos for convenience stores and other venues is packaged in coated kraft paper that enhances its "authentic" image.

El Monterey Authentic Burritos from Ruiz Foods come in three flavors: Ground Beef and Spicy Potatoes, Shredded Steak and Spicy Potatoes, Bean and Cheese. The product was launched last year in California and Arizona, and distribution is currently moving east.

The burritos are in 40-pound kraft paper, coated with ethylene vinyl alcohol and polyethylene, converted by Deluxe Packages. A high EVA content/high melt index sealant extruded onto the paper provides the rigidity necessary during high speeds on a horizontal form-fill-seal machine.

Revcom Advertising & Design produced graphics with seven-color printing. A lacquer coating adds moisture and scuff resistance.
