Scotty's to close remaining bargain outlets

Home Channel News, July 2, 2001

Scotty's, an 88-unit chain of home-improvement stores in Florida and Georgia, confirmed that it plans to close 12 of its 15 bargain outlets. Liquidation sales have already begun in four of the large-format stores, which sell closed-out housewares, home decor products and other distressed merchandise.

Scotty's spokeswoman Lora Kellogg told NHCN that eight more bargain outlets would close on June 29 in Tampa, St. Petersburg and Bradenton, Fla. Four of those properties will go on the market, and Scotty's hopes to reap $20 million from the combined real-estate sale and inventory liquidation. (6/20)
