Demand for carpeting may rise - Brief Article

The Freedonia Group, a Cleveland-based. market research firm, has projected a 2.6 percent increase in U.S. carpet and rug shipments per year through 2005. The rise in demand is expected to come from replacement activity; the expansion of distribution channels and product innovations. Tufted products such as broadloom, scatter rugs, bath mats and vehicular carpets will continue to dominate U.S.
shipments. Strong gains are also forecast for tufted modular carpet, or carpet tiles, especially in non-residential end uses.
