Andrews Mcmeel Publishing - New Title
Home Channel News, August 10, 1998
Andrews McMeel Publishing, Kansas City, Mo., is distributing a new book for DIYers called "Houses are designed by Geniuses & Built by Gorillas," which it describes as an "Insider's Guide to designing and building a home." The author, Bob Johnson, is a licensed general contractor in North Carolina whose experience in recent years has expanded to presenting seminars and teaching college courses.
The 240page softcover book, which is published by Addax Publishing Group and retails for $18.95, takes a lighthearted view of this subject, while touching on all the factors someone needs to understand about customized home building. The goal of the book is to bridge the gap between the genius of your design and the reality of building in America today. While Johnson believes most builders are "highly skilled and fully capable" his book offers a cautionary, if humorous, appraisal of contractors, with an eye toward providing homeowners with a guide to avoiding pitfalls during home building projects.
