Shareholders OK Plum CreekTimber Co. merger - Brief Article

Shareholders approved the merger of the two companies, which removes Atlanta-based Timber Co. parent Georgia Pacific from the timberlands industry. Seattle-based Plum Creek owns timberlands in the Northwest, Southern and Northeast regions and operates nine wood product mills in the Northwest. With the addition of Timber Co.'s 4.7 million acres, Plum Creek will become the largest owner of timberlands in the United States, with a total of 7.8 million acres.
