West Fraser Timber expands into the United States

The Vancouver, British Columbia-based forest products company said that it had agreed to pay 60 million Canadian dollars (US$40.5 million) for Plum Creek's manufacturing facilities in Joyce, La., and Huttig, Ark. The mills have a combined annual production capacity of 300 million board feet of lumber. West Fraser wants to increase the capacity of the plants to 400 million board feet.
