> Louisiana-Pacific, Portland, Ore., announced a series of cost-cutting measures designed to reduce overhead and operating expenses. Plans include eliminating 160 mid- to high-level corporate positions over the next three months, a nine-month salary freeze and executive-bonus cancellations. L-P also intends to leave the pulp business, close higher-cost facilities and sell certain "non-strategic assets," to focus solely on supplying building materials.(l0/3)
