Home Channel News, Nov 6, 2000

> Lower demand in North America for structural wood panels due to less home building is expected to reduce production of wood panels by 2.3 percent, to 39.1 billion square feet, next year, according to APA-The Engineered Wood Association. APA also foresees a 2 percent decline in lumber production, to 64.5 billion board feet, but also a 4.8 percent increase in the production of glulam timber products to 372 million board feet; and a 6 percent increase, to 940 million linear feet, in I-joist production, whose share of the wood floor market is expected to expand to 55 percent by 2005, from 38 percent currently.
