Planalytics (Wayne, Pa.) technologies and services make plans more complete by incorporating into existing planning systems a better understanding of the factors that influence consumer purchasing behavior, such as the weather, competition, the economy and demogmphics. One of these services, Impact LR, provides clients with the specific impact of future weather on consumer demand by product, location and time. The Planalytics WeatherGauge is based on actual average monthly temperatures and number of days with measurable precipitation. The temperature percent variance figures for each of the 30 cities are derived by comparing actual temperatures to normal temperatures, represented by zero. Days of precipitation are derived by counting days of rain or snow with a liquid equivalent of 0.01 inches or more.
