National Home Centers' sales, profits down

Home Channel News, Dec 11, 2000

The Springdale, Ark.-based pro dealer reported that sales in the quarter ended Oct. 31 fell 16 percent to $25.2 million, and net income plummeted 80 percent to $68,000. Like many dealers, National blamed lumber price deflation for most of its financial decline, along with rising interest rates and competition.

Sales through nine months decreased 7 percent to $77.9 million. Net income was down 36 percent to $644,000.
