Pentair - Company Updates - Brief Article

Home Channel News, Dec 17, 2001

PENTAIR, the parent company of Delta and Porter-Cable power tools, revised its current quarterly earnings expectations and said that it would close some of its enclosures division plants. "We have 17 manufacturing sites [for enclosures] and we don't need all the capacity we have," president and CEO Randall J.

Hogan said. The enclosures group is made up of Hoffman Enclosures, Pentair Electronic Packaging and Pentair Enclosures. Its premier brands are Schroff and Hoffman. In the past two months, about 450 employees have been laid off; about 1,600 employees have been laid off over the past year. Poor holiday sales of high-end home-shop tools and a 30 percent drop in enclosure sales has led Pentair to predict lower fourth-quarter earnings than expected.
