Philippine exports up 15.2 pc in Feb

MANILA, March 31 Kyodo Philippine exports rose 15.2% in February from a year earlier to 2.57 billion U.S. dollars, the National Statistics Office said Wednesday. Electronics and electronics components remained the country's top export earner in the reporting month, growing 22.7% to 1.37 billion dollars, the office said.

But exports of agricultural products like coconut oil, sugar, and fruit and vegetables, slid 44.6% to 91.74 million dollars. The United States remained the top destination for Philippine exports, with shipments increasing 1.6% to 743.95 million dollars. Japan took 346.49 million dollars worth of Philippine exports, and the Netherlands 236.71 million dollars.
