H.K. foreign currency reserves reach US$95.2 bil. in May

HONG KONG, June 7 Kyodo

Hong Kong's foreign currency reserves amounted to US$95.2 billion at the end of May, up from the US$93.9 billion in April, the Hong Kong Monetary Authority said Wednesday.

Including unsettled forward contracts, the foreign exchange reserves were US$95.4 billion at the end of May. The figure in April was US$94.2 billion.

Hong Kong is the world's fourth largest holder of foreign exchange reserves after Japan, China and Taiwan.

The territory's foreign reserves represent more than seven times the currency in circulation.
