Share prices on the Seoul Stock Exchange fell Monday following the decline in New York stock prices Friday, Yonhap reported.

The key index fell a sharp 45.75 points to close at 819.01, on the fall on Wall Street, news of a widening trade deficit and the rise in international oil prices.

Volume was 253.13 million shares on turnover of 2.9 trillion won.

Rising issues led declining ones 500 to 352, however, with 42 closing unchanged.

Most of core blue chips dropped substantially.
