Japan offers 867 mil. yen grants to China

Japan on Thursday committed up to 867 million yen in grants to China to improve educational materials for minority groups and to buy equipment for animal husbandry in the Tibet autonomous region, the Foreign Ministry said.
The two nations exchanged notes Thursday in Beijing on the grants-in-aid.
Up to 522 million yen will be used to improve equipment at secondary schools in minority-group areas, and up to 345 million yen for purchasing materials and equipment to help protect livestock during winters in Guoluo Tibet Autonomous Prefecture in Qinghai Province.
