TOKYO, Oct. 18 Kyodo
Mitsubishi Materials Corp. said Wednesday it will start production of electronic components in Thailand for shipment from December.
The company will invest 700 million yen in its Thai subsidiary, MMC Electronics (Thailand) Ltd., for the production of surge absorbers and chip thermistors whose demand is on the increase for use in computers and mobile phones.
Mitsubishi Materials has produced its entire output of the components at its factory in Saitama Prefecture. But it decided to set up the overseas production line to keep up with global demand, a company spokesman said.
