Singapore Web auction operator to launch Japanese service

Internet auction site operator Similan.com Pte. Ltd. of Singapore said Wednesday it will begin a service in Japan in early November allowing Japanese users to bid on merchandise offered in Japan as well as other Asian countries.
Similan currently runs auction sites in seven Asian markets, including Malaysia, Hong Kong and China.
The new service will be offered free of charge and will give users access to sites in the seven markets once they receive identification numbers, Similan said.
The company's largest site, SurfinBananas.com, boasts 140,000 users and 54,000 different kinds of merchandise.
