PHNOM PENH, Sept. 14 Kyodo

Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Sen on Thursday appealed for international aid for the victims of the recent flooding in the country.

Meeting with the flood victims in Kandal Province, in the suburbs of the capital, Hun Sen said the victims need food and accommodation.

Flooding this year has caused 94 deaths and affected 1.27 million people, the National Committee for Disaster Management said.

Peou Samy, secretary general of the committee, did not give specific figure on flood damage but said it could run to millions of dollars.

At least five provinces along the Mekong River, and the municipality of Phnom Penh, have been put under a state of emergency because of the flooding.
