TOKYO, May 1 Kyodo

Nepal said Tuesday it will donate a pair of rhinoceroses to Japan as symbols of friendship between the two countries, Japanese Foreign Ministry officials said.

Nepal informed the Japanese government about the gift from the Nepalese people to coincide with a weeklong visit to Japan by Nepalese Crown Prince Dipendra Bir Bikram Shah Dev, who is scheduled to leave Japan on Wednesday, the officials said.

The rhinos will be kept at the Tama Zoological Park in the suburbs of Tokyo, the officials said.
