NEW DELHI, Aug. 4 Kyodo
More than 30 people have died and thousands have been evacuated from their homes due to flooding in western India's Gujarat State, according to media reports reaching New Delhi on Wednesday.
The rains have also disrupted rail and road traffic between India's commercial capital Mumbai and southern Gujarat, leaving hundreds of travelers stranded on the roads or at railway stations.
Southern Gujarat has also been cut off from neighboring Daman and Diu after a bridge was washed out.
Severe flooding had already left hundreds dead and thousands homeless in the eastern states Bihar and Assam over the past few weeks.
