Table Tennis: China beats Japan in women's team final at junior meet

Defending champion China overpowered Japan 3-0 in the women's team final to win its second straight title at the table tennis world junior championships on Wednesday.

Chang Chenchen put China up with an 11-7, 11-6, 11-8 win over Ai Fukuhara before Fan Ying and Liu Shiwen added victories for the Chinese at Kobe World Memorial Hall in a rematch of last year's final.

Fan defeated Nozomi Hasama 9-11, 11-2, 11-5, 11-5 while Liu downed Yuka Ishigaki 11-7, 11-4, 11-5.

Romania edged South Korea 3-2 to take the bronze medal.

In the men's team event, two wins by Ma Long helped China beat South Korea 3-1 in the final and captured its second straight title.

In the bronze medal match, host Japan, edged by China 3-2 in Tuesday's semifinals, pulled off a 3-1 victory over Germany.

In the mixed doubles, the Japanese pair of Fukuhara and Seiya Kishikawa eased into the third round with a pair of straight-sets wins.
