H.K. foreign exchange reserves hit $123.6 bil. in Jan

HONG KONG, Feb. 9 Kyodo

Hong Kong's foreign exchange reserve assets amounted to US$123.6 billion at the end of January, up from US$118.4 billion in December, the Hong Kong Monetary Authority said Monday.

Hong Kong is the world's fifth largest holder of foreign exchange reserves after Japan, mainland China, Taiwan and South Korea.

The territory's foreign currency reserves represent more than six times the currency in circulation.
