Cambodian premier bans sex magazines
PHNOM PENH, Feb. 8 Kyodo - Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Sen ordered Tuesday a ban on sex magazines in Cambodia.
''These magazines impact seriously on our people. It is very dangerous as clearly prevailed in the high infection rate of HIV/AIDS and the infection is now alarming among the youth,'' Hun Sen said at a teachers' graduation ceremony.
''These magazines are very dangerous. They are even more dangerous than sex videos because the buyers just take them to the bedrooms and read without necessarily having a (video) player,'' he said.
Sex magazines are also sold near many schools in Phnom Penh, he said.
Khieu Kanharith, minister of information, said three magazines -- ''Happy Youth,'' ''Happiness'' and ''Rose'' -- have particularly upset the premier.
