2 Uniqlo stores launched in Beijing

BEIJING, Sept. 3 Kyodo

Uniqlo casual-clothing stores opened in Beijing for the first time Saturday as part of efforts by Fast Retailing Co. to boost businesses in the Asian market.

The company has operated seven Uniqlo stores in Shanghai since September 2002. The launch of its stores in the center of the Chinese capital follows the opening of a Uniqlo store in Seoul on Friday.

Sales in China are believed to have reached some 1.07 billion yen in the business year through August, according to Fast Retailing.
