The chairman of the Economic Council of the National Mandate Party, who obtained a doctorate in business administration from the University of Kentucky in 1985, is married to a doctor of pharmacy and has two sons.

Close to Megawati, Indrawati, who obtained her doctorate in economy from the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign in 1992, is described by the media as an excellent, smart, beautiful and popular woman.

Since 2001, her name has been mentioned as a ministerial candidate several times, but she chose to be a consultant for USAID in 2001 after sitting as an adviser for two years on the National Economic Council set up by then President Wahid.

Popular for her commentary and analysis, in 2002, the professor at the prestigious University of Indonesia was named an executive director of the IMF, representing 12 Southeast Asian countries and becoming the first Indonesian woman in the position. She still holds that position. Indrawati was born Aug. 26, 1962.
