Asian Political News, June 4, 2007
ISLAMABAD, May 31 Kyodo
Eleven people were killed when a group of armed men attacked the residence of an official in a tribal area of northern Pakistan early Thursday, Interior Minister Aftab Ahmad Khan Sherpao said.
The attack on the residence of Amir uddin occurred in the town of Tank in Northern Frontier Province, about 200 kilometers east of Islamabad. Amir is head of the town in the tribal area ruled by special tribal laws.
''It was a shameful incident of terrorism,'' Sherpao told reporters.
Television reports said 13 people -- six family members and seven guests -- were killed in the attack. A group of nearly 100 armed men attacked the residence with rockets and automatic weapons, the reports said.
