The University of California, Los Angeles has been given a $30 million endowment gift from the Herb Alpert Foundation to support its school of music

The UNIVERSITY OF CALIFORNIA, LOS ANGELES has been given a $30 MILLION endowment gift from the Herb Alpert Foundation to support its school of music. In honor of the donor, UCLA renamed the school The UCLA Herb Alpert School of Music. The endowment is the largest ever made to the arts in the UC system and the single largest gift to music higher education in the Western United States.
