The U.S. Department of Energy has awarded a five-year, $5.5 MILLION grant to CALIFORNIA STATE UNIVERSITY-NORTHRIDGE, HARVARD UNIVERSITY, the UNIVERSITY OF SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA and the Los Alamos and Lawrence Livermore national labs to investigate corrosion cracking in certain energy-generating materials.
The collaborative effort will focus on creating a computer model to examine the problem. CSU-Northridge has also received a three-year, $328,758 grant from the California Endowment to help fund student internships with community-based mental health organizations. The grant will support the university's Career Opportunities in Research, a program for undergraduate psychology honors students.
