A group of scholars, including Drs. Eddie Glaude, Farah Jasmine Griffin and Cornel West gathered on the campus of the College of William and Mary last month to participate in the panel "Jamestown 2007--400 Years in Retrospect: A Cross-Cultural Look at the First Settlement." Talk show host and author Tavis Smiley convened the group as part of "State of the Black Union 2007," an annual discussion he has held since 2000.
