UCLA scholars receive research award for study of Asian students

The authors of the largest compilation and analysis of data on Asian American college students recently received the 2008 Asian Pacific American Network Outstanding Contribution to APIDA (Asian Pacific Islander Desi Americans) Research Award from the American College Personnel Association-College Student Educators International.

Dr. Mitchell J. Chang and his co-authors Julie J. Park, Monica H. Lin, Oiyan Poon and Dr. Don T. Nakanishi were recognized for their 2007 report "Beyond Myths: The Growth and Diversity of Asian American College Freshmen, 1971-2005." Chang, an associate professor of education at the University of California, Los Angeles, issued the report through the Cooperative Institutional Research Program at the Higher Education Research Institute at UCLA.
