A collaborative study by LINCOLN UNIVERSITY (Pa.), PENNSYLVANIA STATE UNIVERSITY College of Medicine and the UNIVERSITY OF PENNSYLVANIA has received $4.2 MILLION from the state of Pennsylvania to study gene-environment interactions that increase the risk of lung cancer in Black and White smokers and non-smokers.

About 10 percent of lung cancer cases occur in non-smokers. The grant comes from Pennsylvania's share of the national tobacco settlement for 2006-2007.
